Not financial advice

Our models are calculations, not advice.

They are spreadsheet calculations built from the information you give us and the assumptions you choose, and they are general information only. We do not give financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, we make no recommendation, and we give no warranty that any figure is accurate or complete.

Check everything independently, and get advice from a licensed professional, before you rely on a model for any decision.

1. What we do

We prepare financial models in Microsoft Excel format from the documents, links and description you give us. Where you ask for it, we also look up publicly available information, such as published annual reports and company announcements, and read branding from a website you name. We then build a workbook from our library of calculation building blocks.

A model is a set of calculations. It shows what follows arithmetically from the inputs and assumptions in it. It is not a forecast we stand behind, a valuation opinion, an audit, a review or a recommendation of any kind.

2. No financial advice

  • Nothing we provide (models, previews, values, values per share, scenarios, emails or anything on this website) is financial product advice, personal advice or general advice within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). We do not hold an Australian financial services licence.
  • Nothing we provide is a recommendation or opinion to buy, sell or hold any security, financial product, property or business, or to lend, borrow or invest.
  • Models for listed companies are business valuations. They calculate values per share from the assumptions in them and show market figures, such as the share price and the multiples it implies, for reference only. They contain no target prices, expected returns or ratings, and a value per share is not a view on whether to buy, sell or hold.
  • We do not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account.
  • Nothing we provide is tax, accounting, legal or valuation advice.
  • You must independently verify every input, assumption, formula and result before relying on a model, and should get advice from an appropriately licensed or qualified adviser before making any decision.

3. Your information and assumptions

  • A model is only as good as the information it is built from. We do not audit or verify the documents or figures you give us, or the public information we find.
  • Where your information does not cover something, we make an assumption and label it in the workbook. Assumptions are placeholders for you to review and replace, not our view of what will happen.
  • You must have the right to share everything you send us, including any information about other people or businesses, and you must not send us anything unlawful.

4. Generative AI, errors and verification

  • Our modelling is built with the help of generative artificial intelligence (AI). AI is used in parts of our process, including reading your documents, choosing building blocks, filling in inputs and assumptions, and writing descriptions.
  • Generative AI can produce information that looks plausible but is wrong, incomplete or invented (often called “hallucinations”). This can affect any part of a model, including figures taken from your documents, assumptions, labels, descriptions and results.
  • Our checks (for example, that the balance sheet balances) test that a model is internally consistent. They do not prove that its inputs, assumptions or results are correct.
  • You must have every model checked by a suitably qualified person, against your own records and source documents, before you use it or rely on it for any purpose.
  • We offer no warranty, guarantee or representation that any part of a model is free of AI errors (see “No warranties” below).

5. Free models

Models requested from a free account are free: the build, the online preview, the changes you ask for, research, historical financials, branding and the Excel download.

  • You need a free account to request a model. We do not ask for card details.
  • We may change this offer for new requests. If we do, we will give notice on this site before the change applies, and a model that is already free stays free.
  • You can ask for changes to your model from its page. What we can change, and when, is our call.
  • If you ask for an optional paid feature in your account, we show you the price and ask for your agreement before anything is charged. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. Prices are in Australian dollars and include any GST that applies.
  • A subscription, if you take one out, renews until you cancel it in your account.

Refunds are covered in our refund policy.

6. Using your model

  • You may use, change and copy the workbook for your own purposes and those of your business, including sharing it with your advisers, lenders and investors.
  • Without our permission, you may not resell or republish our models, previews or building blocks as a product or service of your own, or copy or scrape the preview.
  • You keep all rights in your documents and data.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, copy and store the documents, data and descriptions you send us, and the models we build from them: to provide the service to you and, once it is anonymised (with names, contact details, business names and anything else that identifies you, your business or anyone in your documents removed), to improve and train our modelling systems, including machine-learning models. We do not train our systems on information that identifies you.
  • We never sell or publish your documents. You can ask us not to use your requests to train our systems, as our privacy policy explains.
  • We keep all rights in our software, methods, templates, building blocks and modelling systems.
  • If you share a model with anyone else, you are responsible for making sure they understand that it is not advice and must be verified.

8. No warranties

To the extent the law allows, our models, previews and services are provided as they are, and no warranties are offered. Because our models are built partly with generative AI and may contain errors or hallucinations, we do not warrant or promise that any model, figure, formula, assumption or result is accurate, complete, current, free of errors or fit for any particular purpose, or that the website will always be available. Everything in a model must be verified by you before it is relied on.

9. Limits on our liability

  • To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, a model or anything else we provide, including investment, trading, lending or business losses, lost profits or opportunities, and any indirect or consequential loss.
  • To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected with a model is limited to the amount you paid us for that model, if any, or, at our option, to supplying the service again.
  • You are responsible for the decisions you make. A model does not replace your own judgement or professional advice.

10. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.

11. Changes, law and contact

  • We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies from the date shown at the top; the terms in place when you requested a model continue to apply to that model.
  • These terms are governed by the laws in force in Australia, and you and we submit to the courts there.
